MISSION
MHANY’s mission is to:
Increase affordable housing opportunities by identifying and implementing creative housing development initiatives, with a focus on preservation and deep affordability;
Improve the way affordable housing for low and moderate income people is developed and operated
Work with building and community residents to get involved with their communities and neighborhoods
Improve community conditions and increase neighborhood involvement
Educate and counsel to prepare low and moderate income people interested in purchasing their first home and counsel current homeowners to address mortgage delinquency and default

This organization is all of the following: developer, property manager, marketing agent, loan counselor and administrative services entity; all staff are employed by this entity
Properties are held through HDFCs and tax credit limited partnerships controlled by MHANY Management Inc. or joint ventures jointly controlled by MHANY Management Inc.
The MHANY Management Inc. Board of Directors is composed of neighborhood leaders from our core neighborhoods who typically reside in our buildings
With the exception of Mutual Housing Association of New York, Inc., the property owning company Boards are composed of a subset of the MHANY Management Inc. Board
The Board is responsible for setting policies, including to determine rent increases, fill vacancies, settle resident disputes and control expenses that affect all residents
Executive Director reports to Board and staff reports to Executive Director
MHANY's Property Management Structure
Private, experienced third party back office managers (Norwax Associates and Stillman Management) provide bookkeeping services and financial reporting to us and our investors
In-house Maintenance Director supervises the field superintendents, handymen and porters and the third party contractor work
In-house Resident Director supervises the resident related work and tenant relations, service referrals and other trouble shooting necessary during building operation
